System requirements

The Tarma QuickInstall software consists of two separate applications: the TIN Builder development environment and the TIN Setup installer. They have slightly different minimum system requirements.

TIN Builder

The TIN Builder development environment is used to develop and build Setup packages. It runs as Tin.exe on the developer's computer and is never distributed to customers. The system requirements for TIN Builder are:

• Windows 95 (OSR1 or later), 98, Me, NT4 (SP3 or later), 2000, XP, or Vista.
• At least 2 MB of available disk space prior to installation. The amount of disk space required to build Setup packages depends on the contents of the project under consideration.
• At least 32 MB of RAM on Windows 95, 98, and Me systems; at least 64 MB of RAM on Windows NT4 and 2000, and at least 128 MB of RAM on Windows XP systems.
• A video card and corresponding display operating at a resolution of 800x600 pixels or greater, with 256 or more colors.

TIN Setup

TIN Setup is the actual installation program that is distributed to customers as part of distribution packages created by Tarma QuickInstall. It runs as Setup.exe or a derived name on the customer's computer. The system requirements for distribution packages that contain Setup.exe are:

• Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, or Vista.
• Available disk space requirements depend on the contents of the distribution package; for Setup.exe and its installation script, at least 45-60 KB is required.
• Minimum RAM requirements are the same as the minimum RAM requirements of the operating system.
• All video modes of at least 640x480 pixels with 16 or more colors are supported.

Note — Depending on the needs of your application, you may further restrict the target system requirements of Setup packages that you create. Setup checks these requirements when the customer runs the Setup package and will inform the customer of any discrepancies. This does not, however, affect the ability of Setup itself to run on those systems.
